Everything seems to be WordPress, WordPress, WordPress. Obviously, it’s used more than Joomla, but is it the better CMS of the two? While many may argue that it is, many other users will tell you that it’s not! Truthfully, “Joomla is the world’s most popular open source CMS,” it’s just not publicized as much as WordPress.
So, if you’re a Joomla user and/or fan, exactly where can you go for the best tips and resources? While there are many Joomla blogs around, most are not updated too regularly. So let’s take a look at 4 that are regularly updated and offer great information regarding this true open source community.
JoomlaBlogger
This blog, run by Kristoffer Sandven , features tutorials, tips, training, and news “for all you Joomla addicts out there.” When you sign up for the weekly newsletter, you’ll even get a free 48-page ebook called, “The Best of Jomlablogger.net.”
a4joomla - Free and Pro Templates
This is another blog geared toward templates - mainly free and professional ones, though you can also purchase Pro templates for around $28 USD. If you’re into developing, you can also sign up for a template quick reference guide, which contains “Joomla 1.5 CSS IDs and classes, some info about index.php and module chrome.”
Compass Designs .net
Compass Designers doesn’t only have Joomla templates, it’s also a great resource for tutorials, services, downloads, trainings and Joomla hosting. If you sign up for Joomla Hosting at Simpleweb, you can even receive a free signed copy of the book, “Joomla - A User’s Guide.” If decide to subscribe to this “#1 Joomla blog,”, you’ll be joining almost 6,000 other readers. It’s a very informative blog with a nice clean design.
Build a Joomla Website
This blog has “Joomla tutorials, reviews, case studies and other tips to help you improve your Joomla website.” You’ll be able to keep up with the latest Joomla extensions and find out exactly how they work. You can also find interviews with other Joomla site owners, news, and even contests. If you want to become a Pro in Joomla, you should definitely check out their Joomla Pro course for $97. There are also free video tutorials to help you learn the basics, if you’re just starting out.
So what is your favorite Joomla blog for tips and resources?
