Web optimization is an integral and essential part of Web development and its maintenance; however, sometimes it goes unnoticed even by the webmasters.

You can save a large amount of money, and it can be particularly helpful in increasing the readership along with the traffic when it is properly done.

You can easily opt for web optimization tools for your blog or website. It can be extremely useful in exceeding the speed of your web pages. Mainly, there are three kinds of optimization services which are assets optimization, server-side optimization, and platform optimization.

The asset-based optimization mainly consists of the components such as images, JavaScript, CSS, and many more.

You need to consider some essential requirements while opting for Server optimization;

  • You need to select a decent and reputable web hosting company : web-hosting company not really has a direct relationship with optimization but opting for a decent company is extremely important and essential. It is actually the basis of your blog or website and the accessibility, security, server stability, customer support and price plays a vital role. You need to ensure that you are in safe hands.
  • The web components such as static scripts and images are the web assets and these assets do not require processing from the server. These mainly consist of JavaScript, images, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), web graphics and many more. Thus, hosting your separately is not a must, however, the results differ greatly.
  • All the contents transfer from the server to the client and vice versa when a HTTP request is made. Compressing the particular contents is perfect for sending them as it reduces time that is required to process each and every request. For this reason, you can opt for an application that is known as GZip. It is one of the best means to do it and it has different versions according to the various kinds of servers that are being used. For example, Apache 1.3 requires mod_zip, and Apache 2.x asks for mod_deflate.
  • Make sure that your web developers have not included too many of the URL redirects. This is because each and every redirecting page creates another HTTP request. User will be able to access your page very slowly; therefore, you need to minimize the redirects as much as you can to get to the actual destination page.
  • According to professionals, its takes approximately 20 to120 milliseconds for the Domain Name System (DNS) toward resolving the IP addresses for the given domain or host name and until the time the process is not completed, the browser cannot not proceed further.
Assets Optimization: the assets such as Images, JavaScript, and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) can be optimized, however, you need to consider some essential points for it which are:
  • You should be merging multiple and large JavaScript files into one.
  • Other than this, you can also compress the CSS and JavaScript files. You can opt for such applications that are useful in combining numerous JavaScript and CSS files and get their contents compressed. This will be helpful in removing the unnecessary comments and whitespace. You can even compress the files online and even manually.
