Are you a web designer with an iPad? Do you often create moodboards? If you answered yes to either or both of those questions, then you're going to love Moodboard for iPad. It's a very convenient app that allows you to create moodboards on-the-go for clients or your own personal use.
If you're unfamiliar with what a moodboard is, Wikipedia describes it
best as "a type of poster design that may consist of images, text, and
samples of objects." That's just what it is - a creative way to develop
design concepts and gather inspiration for a website. Moodboards can be
created in all types of programs from Photoshop to Microsoft Word, but
on the iPad your best bet is the Moodboard for iPad app.
Key Features of Moodboard for iPad
- Import photos from your library or clip images and other content using the built-in browser

Once you get started with Moodboard for iPad, you won't want to stop. Below is a sample Moodboard that I created within 10-15 minutes of playing around with the app; it's simple yet stunning.
Working within Moodboard for iPad
I started out with just a blank slate and the wooden background. It was easy to choose my colors with the picker and then drag them onto the white bordered background you see above. The borders for the color swatches can also be customized; I used white borders to blend in with the white background. It was a bit hard to line them up, but I'm sure it will get easier with practice.
The push pins, masking tape, and arrows are all elements that can be found within the toolbox. Many of these items started out pretty big and had to be scaled down and rotated to the right positions. All of the fonts were also customized (color, size, style) from within the toolbox. The 3 images in the bottom right were clipped from the built-in web browser with ease.
There is no need to save your board, because it's automatically saved as you work. So if you happen to accidentally close out the app you won't have to worry about losing your work. It's also easy to find the board that you were working on from the home page of the app with the nice thumbnail view seen below.

Moodboard for iPad is also great for organizing photos from events such as a vacation, wedding, or party. You can even use this app to help you decorate a bedroom or office. It's definitely a great tool for creative minds, but unfortunately the app isn't free. It comes with a price tag of $9.99, which is a bit steep, but well worth it if you plan to use quite it often. Other than the price tag, Moodboard for iPad unquestionably does not disappoint.
Do you create moodboards? If so, is this an app that you'd be willing to invest in?
